The baseball season can last from February until late October. It’s generally broken down into three parts: pre-season, regular season, and post-season.
The pre-season, or spring training, is really not much more than practice. The regular season runs from April until September. Over the course of a season, teams compete for one of the four play-off berths in their league to get to the post season. During post season the top teams compete in the Division Championship Series to determine who qualifies for the League Championship Series.
The teams declared League Champions advance to the World Series for the chance to become World Champion.
